About Me

For the past five years, I have worked as a private psychotherapist in Santa Cruz County, serving individuals, couples, and families, facing a variety of challenges, such as relationship issues, stress, anxiety, depression, autism, and grief and loss. I am currently a contract therapist at Mountain Elementary School in Soquel, California, where I do individual psychotherapy with students and group therapy with families and facilitate social learning groups. I have also had the privilege of working with the Listen Foundation, a local, non-profit organization that provides residential care to adults with autism, Down Syndrome and other developmental disabilities.

Prior to serving clients in private practice, I was a social worker in a level-12 residential treatment facility for emotionally-disturbed children and adolescents.  My clients came from diverse cultural, social, and economic backgrounds and required similarly diverse interventions.  Using techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy and solution-focused therapies, I engaged my clients to take control of their lives.  In addition to orchestrating and providing group and individual therapy for my clients, I acted as a liaison between my clients and social services providers, medical providers, and teachers. This experience taught me to work collaboratively within a therapeutic team. I draw on this experience now to help clients who need a therapist who can interface with other systems, including schools, the courts, or other mental health clinicians.

Before becoming a licensed psychotherapist, I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies from the University of California at Santa Cruz and worked as substitute teacher. I am grateful to live in Santa Cruz, where I immerse myself as often as possible in the incredible ecosystems on our doorstep, from the forest and rivers of the Santa Cruz Mountain to the Monterey Bay. I enjoy traveling, hiking, surfing, and spending quality time with my family, including my wife and our two daughters (ages 5 and 12).
